The Sweden international joined PSG in a double deal with Thiago Silva worth £51 million and has already scored eight times in six games for a club that currently sits in second place in Ligue 1 and are huge favourites to win the title.

However, having invested huge amounts in their squad, PSG also have designs on European success and ahead of the club's second Champions League fixture of the campaign - away at Porto on Wednesday - Ibrahimovic says such grandiose plans are achievable.

The striker also believes PSG are now a more formidable side than the club he left behind in Serie A.

"I think this team is stronger than Milan," Ibrahimovic told Eurosport. "That's why I came here also.

"This team is getting better with me, Thiago Silva and other players with qualities.

"In the same time Milan lost players with big qualities.

"I totally believe in the dream that Paris have to become one of the best teams in Europe and in the world. But to do this we have to win."

PSG opened their Champions League campaign with a 4-1 victory at home to Dynamo Kiev - Ibrahimovic opening the scoring with a penalty after 19 minutes. He will turn 31 on Wednesday and expects a stiffer challenge as he celebrates his birthday.

"Porto is a strong team, better than Dynamo Kiev, with all respect to Kiev," he said. "But it's very exciting. It's exactly the kind of game you want to play in the Champions League to see what can be the level of your team.

"It's a special day, I will get one year older. But I feel like wine, the older I get, the better I get ... and hopefully this day will give me a good present with a good result in Porto."

The full interview with Ibrahimovic can be seen during Eurogoals, which will be broadcast at 18:40 on Monday on British Eurosport.
