Hurricanes 2, Flyers 1
Jay Harrison and Radek Dvorak scored goals, and the Carolina Hurricanes won for the first time this season, topping the Philadelphia Flyers.
The Hurricanes (1-0-1) held on after squandering a two-goal lead two days earlier in an overtime loss to the Detroit Red Wings.
The Flyers, who played less than 24 hours earlier at Montreal, fell to 0-3 for only the fourth time -- but for the second consecutive season.
Goalie Anton Khudobin, making his Carolina debut, stopped 17 shots. Philadelphia goalie Steve Mason made 32 saves.
The Flyers mustered only three shots on goal in the third period.
