Ottawa Senators defenseman Eric Gryba has been suspended for two games by the NHL for an illegal check to the head of Montreal Canadiens forward Lars Eller.
The incident occurred at 13:28 of the second period. Gryba was assessed a major penalty for interference and a game misconduct. Eller has been released from the hospital after being treated for a concussion and facial fractures sustained from the hit.
San Jose Sharks winger Martin Havlat has been ruled out of Friday's Game 2 Western Conference quarterfinal against the Vancouver Canucks.
Havlat, 32, appeared to be injured on a spear from Vancouver defenseman Kevin Bieksa midway through the first period of Game 1.
The Nashville Predators have announced they signed last year's sixth-round draft pick, goalie Marek Mazanec, to a two-year entry-level contract.
