Jason ‘Mayhem' Miller Pleads Not Guilty to Recent Standoff-Related Charges

Jason “Mayhem” Miller pleaded not guilty for charges of resisting arrest and obstructing an officer in Orange County Superior Court in California on Monday, according to a tweet from ABC7 reporter Julie Stone.

Miller later commented via his own Twitter account that court went well.

The charges stem from a standoff between Miller and police on Oct. 9 at a home in Mission Viejo, Calif. Miller live-tweeted from inside the home as the situation unfolded.

Miller had holed up inside his home when deputies attempted to serve an arrest warrant, stemming from charges related to domestic violence and stalking.

The situation escalated to the point that SWAT officers were called to the scene and crisis negotiators had to try and talk Miller out of the home.

Miller had been tweeting via his official verified account throughout the incident, claiming that the police response was disproportionate to the magnitude of the situation. He was, however, rather scattered in his comments and did little to provide much clarity on how the situation escalated and why he did not surrender earlier.

Mayhem hasn’t fought since 2012, when he lost back-to-back bouts in the UFC. He spent the majority of his career fighting in the upper echelon of the sport, including defeating current No. 1 UFC welterweight contender Robbie Lawler to win the ICON middleweight championship.
