John Dodson Replaces Injured Ian Mcall Against Scott Jorgensen at UFC on Fox 9

John Dodson Returns on Stacked UFC 187 Fight Card

UFC officials moved swiftly to find a replacement when Ian McCall recently had to withdraw from the UFC on Fox 9 fight card. The promotion on Tuesday announced John Dodson would step in for him and face Scott Jorgensen at the Dec. 14 event in Sacramento, Calif.

Jorgensen (14-7) is in a tough spot, having lost three of his last four fights. Granted, he had a Fight of the Night performance with Eddie Wineland in June, but he lost the fight, as well as bouts against Urijah Faber and current UFC interim bantamweight champion Renan Barão.

His lone victory during that stretch was a submission of John Albert.

In short, Jorgensen needs to get his train back on the tracks. McCall wouldn’t have been an easy fight, but things aren’t any less difficult with the change of opponent.

Dodson (15-6) is fresh off of a first-round knockout of Darrell Montague at UFC 166 earlier this month. Prior to that, The Ultimate Fighter 14 winner suffered the only defeat of his five-fight UFC tenure, a decision loss to current flyweight champ Demetrious Johnson.

Jorgensen and Dodson are likely to remain on the Fox Sports 1 televised preliminary card.
