Dave Jones says he has not been in touch with Portsmouth regarding the vacant managerial position at Fratton Park.
Pompey are without a manager after Steve Cotterill's move to Nottingham Forest last week, and reports have linked former Southampton boss Jones with a return to the south coast. However, Jones has dismissed the reports as mere speculation and insists that claims he watched Portsmouth beat Barnsley 2-0 on Saturday are wide of the mark.
He told The News: "I am flattered to be linked with the job but I have had no contact with the club whatsoever. That is all I want to say really. But it definitely wasn't me seen at Fratton Park on Saturday. I feel sorry for the fella if he looked like me."
Sean O'Driscoll and Billy Davies have also been linked with the position.
