Sheffield Wednesday manager Dave Jones insists Reda Johnson's claims that he will be out injured for two months are inaccurate.
Defender Johnson, 24, took to Twitter to say he expected a lengthy absence after suffering a foot injury.
However, following Tuesday night's 3-3 npower Championship draw at Burnley, Jones told BBC Radio Sheffield: "He isn't the specialist and that is completely different to what I've been told.
"He's taken it down now and rightly so, it isn't his place to put that information out. I don't know why he did it, he should know better. It [Twitter] is the scourge of modern football."
It is the second time in as many weeks that Jones has criticised one of his players about their use of social network sites.
On-loan striker Jay Bothroyd got into an argument with some of the club's fans on Twitter after being accused of not trying in the 2-1 home defeat by Bolton.
