'Keen to work in interest of cricket', says Anurag Thakur

Chennai, Mar. 2 (ANI): The newly-elected BCCI secretary, Anurag Thakur, on Monday thanked the board for giving him an opportunity to serve the prestigious game and added that he would work in the interest of cricket. "It is not about individual's victory, this is a victory which I will dedicate to all the members who have given me an opportunity to work. I have been coming to the board for more than 15 to 17 years. So, I am not a new comer, I have seen many ups and downs in the board," Thakur told mediapersons here. "We have elections in BCCI every few years........ By the end of the elections, all the members work together in the interest of cricket. We have gone through a lot, the reputation of the board is the most important thing for us and all of us are very keen to work in the interest of BCCI and in the interest of the cricket," he added. Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association chief Anurag Thakur beat Sanjay Patel by one vote in the elections to become the BCCI secretary. Jagmohan Dalmiya was formally elected as the BCCI president during the board's annual general meeting held in Chennai earlier in the day. Dalmiya has replaced N. Srinivasan after the Supreme Court barred the latter from standing as a candidate for the top job following the probe into the Indian Premier League (IPL) betting and fixing scandal. (ANI)
