Oldham have signed Derby winger Lee Croft on a season-long loan deal.
The 27-year-old made 17 appearances during a loan spell at Boundary Park in the 2004/5 season when he was at Manchester City and returns to Lancashire after finding his chances at Pride Park limited.
He told the club's official website: "I came to Latics as a boy and went back to City as a man and ended up getting into the first team.
"This was the place which kick-started my career. It is nice to be back and hopefully the same thing happens again.
"I had offers from Scottish Premier League club St Johnstone and also from clubs in Europe but this seemed the right place for me.
"St Johnstone have qualified for Europe and they wanted me back (following a loan spell last season) which was tempting, but I wanted to stay in England."
