Chelsea v Manchester United (7.45pm)

Roberto Di Matteo faces a major selection headache. Blues boss Di Matteo has the impossible task of getting his players to focus solely on football amid the fallout from Sunday’s explosive Premier League defeat to United. And he has to do it without the suspended John Terry, Fernando Torres and Branislav Ivanovic, and the injured Frank Lampard, meaning possible elevation to the squad for youngsters George Saville and Nathan Ake.

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is set to ring the changes with a number of youngsters set to feature. The likes of Robin van Persie, Wayne Rooney and Rio Ferdinand are set for a night off, while Michael Keane, Marnick Vermijl and Scott Wootton, who all started the win over Newcastle in the previous round, will be hopeful of a recall. Shinji Kagawa will be out for the next month with a knee injury, while this game has come to soon for defenders Chris Smalling (broken metatarsal) and Phil Jones (back and knee problems). Nemanja Vidic is still absent with a knee problem.

Norwich City v Tottenham Hotspur (7.45pm)

Norwich are missing defender Russell Martin because of a back injury. Manager Chris Hughton has confirmed that midfielder Jacob Butterfield will be involved in the tie at Carrow Road. Harry Kane, on loan from Spurs, is on course to return before Christmas following foot surgery.

Striker Emmanuel Adebayor is a doubt for Tottenham after he missed training on Monday with a stomach bug. Mousa Dembele could also miss out thanks to a niggling hip injury and long-term absentees Scott Parker (Achilles), Benoit Assou-Ekotto and Younes Kaboul (both knee) remain sidelined. Manager Andre Villas-Boas will rest a number of his first-team players, meaning the likes of Hugo Lloris, Andros Townsend, Yago Falque and Kyle Naughton could all start at Carrow Road.

Liverpool v Swansea City (8pm)

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers will make a number of changes for the visit of former club Swansea. The likes of Steven Gerrard and Luis Suarez are likely to be rested after a busy schedule over the last week, while goalkeeper Jose Reina is still recovering from a hamstring injury. It means the likes of defenders Jamie Carragher and Sebastian Coates and midfielders Jordan Henderson and Stewart Downing are set to play.

Gerhard Tremmel will replace the injured Michel Vorm in goal for Swansea as they head to Anfield.Vorm injured his groin in the 1-0 defeat at Manchester City on Saturday, and German Tremmel will be promoted with David Cornell coming on to the bench. Michael Laudrup will wait to see if captain Ashley Williams and Wayne Routledge shake off knocks, while young left-back Ben Davies is likely to be rested with Dwight Tiendalli getting his first start. Striker Danny Graham may also lead the line after being left on the bench against City and Wigan.
