Baptista wants Bernabeu win

The Costa del Sol outfit head out to the capital on Wednesday evening for Week 36’s rearranged fixture against Madrid in what is a return to Los Blancos for Baptista.

“I’m really looking to going back to the Bernabeu, I’ve not been there for five years,” reflected the Brazilian striker to reporters today.

“I’ll always have affection for Real Madrid, but I’m defending the Malaga colours now and we’re going to try our best to do the possible or impossible and bring three points home.”

Malaga’s form has slipped of late and they head into the match five points behind fourth placed Real Sociedad, but the Basques playing their game in hand on Monday evening.

“We need to ensure we end the season well, as we’ve worked so hard and achieved so much.  It’d be such a shame if we didn’t qualify for European football next year. There are only a few games left so we need to keep fighting until the end to make sure we get there.

“They’ll obviously be determined to win to prevent Barcelona from becoming League champions so early on.

“However with the amount of points Barca have got, it’ll be very difficult for them not to win the League.”

It may prove equally difficult for Malaga at the Santiago Bernabeu, in light of recent away form on the road for the Anchovies.

“We haven’t shown the same fluidity on the pitch in away games as we do at home, and therefore haven’t had as many goal opportunities.

“We’ve let a lot of points slip through our fingers, so the only thing we can do now is gain as many of the remaining points as possible to finish as high up the League table as we can.”
