The 21-year-old centre-back, who can also play in centre-midfield, underwent and and passed a medical with the Costa del Sol side on Wednesday.
Malaga have now confirmed the transfer on their website, signing the young Portuguese to a three-year contract, which carries the option for a fourth.
Ferreira joins for a believed fee of €500,000 and is Malaga’s first new face of the summer market, following on from Pedro Morales re-signing a new contract and Vitorino Antunes seeing his loan made permanent.
Malaga have been banned from European competition for financial problems but are restructuring in a bid to become 'self sufficient'. They are still on the lookout for a new manager though, with Manuel Pellegrini expected to join Manchester City. Bernd Schuster is top of their list.
