The situation has subsequently reportedly attracted interest from the likes of Bayern Munich, Manchester City and Manchester United.
Mundo Deportivo understand that Barca officials are keen to keep hold of Thiago for next season, but will not try to renew his contract to eliminate this particular low buyout clause.
Instead, the club are seen as waiting on Thiago to make his own decision on his future, to determine if he wants to stay at the Camp Nou or not.
