Liverpool XI vs AC Milan: Starting lineup, confirmed team news and Injury latest for Champions League tonight
With 13 European titles between them, two of the continents biggest clubs go head-to-head at Anfield tonight as Liverpool host AC Milan.
Jurgen Klopp will expect a victory to start the Reds’ campaign and will bank on the extraordinary goalscoring feats of Mohamed Salah who notched his 100th Premier League goal in the 3-0 win over Leeds on Sunday.
Sadio Mane was also on the scoresheet at Elland Road but drops to the bench tonight as Divock Origi, hero of the 2019 final, is handed a rare start.
Virgil van Dijk is also offered a rest as Joe Gomez comes in to partner Joel Matip at the heart of the defence, while Naby Keita and captain Jordan Henderson start alongside Fabinho in midfield.
They’ll be without teenager Harvey Elliott who suffered a horrific injury against Leeds and will be out for some time, though he is expected to play again this season after undergoing succesful surgery.
Roberto Firmino’s hamstring injury means Diogo Jota maintains his place.
