Felix Loch of Germany loses control of his sled in the men's World Cup luge competition in Calgary, Alberta December 17, 2011.

Cesana had originally been pencilled in for the meeting on December 1 and 2, but the Italian venue was closed because the track operating company could not guarantee a smooth running of operations.

The FIL decided on Koenigssee as a replacement, and it will now host two events this season, the second being in early January 2013.

The Bavarian facility at the foot of the Watzmann Mountain opened in 1969 and was recently modernised.
