Luke Rockhold Reveals Fight with Lyoto Machida to Headline UFC on FOX 15

The oft talked about fight between Luke Rockhold and Lyoto Machida has finally become a reality.

Rockhold on Thursday announced via his Instagram account that his next fight would be against Machida in the UFC on FOX 15 main event on April 18 at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J.

The former Strikeforce middleweight champion, Rockhold (13-2) stumbled upon his UFC arrival, losing to Vitor Belfort in May of 2013. He didn't take long to rebound, however, as he has since gone on to win three consecutive fights.

Rockhold TKO'd Costas Philippou and then submitted Tim Boetsch and Michael Bisping en route to earning the UFC on FOX 15 headlining bout.

Machida (22-5) is the former UFC light heavyweight champion. He made the drop to middleweight in 2013, and has since won three of his four bouts at 185 pounds, his only loss being to current UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman. That was at UFC 175 last July.

Machida recovered recently with a win over CB Dollaway, and a win over Rockhold would certainly go far in putting his name pack in the thick of the middleweight title talk.
