Leeds boss Neil Warnock has revealed Ross McCormack is likely to be ruled out until mid-November with the ankle injury he suffered in last weekend's defeat at Cardiff.
Fellow striker Luciano Becchio also limped off during Tuesday's defeat after taking a knock on his ankle, leaving Andy Gray as Warnock's only available striker.
Davide Somma is still working his way back from a lengthy spell on the sidelines, while the Whites chief admitted he wasn't anywhere near to bringing in a replacement forward.
"Becchio banged his ankle," he told the club's official website. "We had to be careful. It's alright him carrying on and then we lose him for a month. I didn't want that.
"We're already without Ross and we know he'll be out for six to eight weeks now. It might be that he needs an operation on Friday because he chipped a bone alongside the ligaments.
"It's as bad as you can get from a twisted ankle without breaking it."
