Called by bamboo-engineering to replace Pasquale Di Sabatino, Nykjaer ranked among the top six from the beginning.
He qualified fourth overall, best of the Yokohama Trophy, and then finished both races in fifth and sixth position, claiming one first and one second in the Trophy.
“It was a very positive weekend, especially considering that I did not know team. I think that with a short test before the event I could have done even better,” said Nykjaer who was classified second in the 2011 instalment.
“I don’t know if it’s possible for me to take part in some other WTCC event this year. However my goal is to join the championship again next year.”
