And It’s All Over, Mike Goldberg Pulled from NFL on FOX Broadcast Team

Longtime UFC commentator Mike Goldberg made his NFL play-by-play debut on Sunday, calling the action for the Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions game. His stint as an NFL broadcaster was short lived.

The 49-year-old was scheduled to be part of the NFL on FOX commentary crew for this weekend’s Vikings game against the Buffalo Bills, but has been yanked from the slot following poor reviews and reacting to critics with profanities on Twitter.

Goldberg’s replacement will be veteran announcer Tim Brando, who calls the action for college football games on the FOX network.

During Sunday’s broadcast, Goldberg made several errors, mixing up players and coaches and losing track of downs. Following the game, viewers criticized Goldberg via Twitter, and the UFC commentator responded by calling one a “douche” and saying, “Dude, (expletive) you” to another. He has since removed the tweets.

Fox is expected to release a statement on the decision to replace Goldberg later today.
