Former Salford head coach Matt Parish has announced he is to leave his post as assistant at Manly Sea Eagles to take up a similar role at Parramatta.

Parish was appointed by Salford in the summer of 2011 as the successor to Shaun McRae but was in charge for just six matches before quitting to return to Australia, where he worked this year under Geoff Toovey at the Sea Eagles.

He was installed as the favourite to succeed Tim Sheens at Wests Tigers but instead he will link up once more with new Eels coach Ricky Stuart, who he previously worked with as an assistant to the New South Wales Origin team.

"It was a very tough decision because I really admire Tooves and the staff and the players," Parish said. "I can tell you I had many sleepless nights about it."

Former Huddersfield coach Nathan Brown, who is due to take up a three-year contract with St Helens in November, continues to be linked with the vacancy at Wests Tigers.
