Perez hints at Real Madrid interest in Ancelotti

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has hinted that Carlo Ancelotti could take over as the club’s new coach.

The 54-year-old has been linked with a summer switch to los Blancos after revealing his desire to join the Liga runners-up and Perez has claimed that the former AC Milan and Chelsea boss has the right profile to be able to succeed at Santiago Bernabeu.

“In this moment we need a coach who really knows us and the Italian Carlo Ancelotti knows us," Perez told EsRadio.

The 66-year-old also claimed that Zinedine Zidane - who is currently the club's sporting director - is not yet ready to be considered as a potential replacement for Jose Mourinho and feels that the Frenchman should start at a lower level and build his coaching career away from the intense spotlight at Madrid.

“What is certain is that Zidane wants to be a coach,” Perez added.

“However I think [Zidane] should start at a team with a system that is not directly the Real Madrid first team."

Perez was recently re-elected for another four years at the club after running for the presidency unopposed.
