The Gunners claimed the fourth and final Champions League spot, meaning Andre Villas-Boas’s side must spend a season in the Europa League.

West Brom midfielder Isaiah Brown, who made his debut against Wigan this month, was not even conceived the last time Spurs finished above Arsenal.

Brown was born on January 7, 1997, and the last time Spurs trumped their North London rivals was in May 1995.

That means that Gunners youngster Serge Gnabry, who was not involved today but made his debut in October this season, was a couple of months away from being born, as was Southampton left-back Luke Shaw, who is a first-team regular in the top flight.

Since Arsene Wenger last won a trophy every single Football League club has changed manager – and despite sneaking into Europe’s premier club competition again, many Arsenal fans will wonder whether he still is the right man to take them forward.
