Ben Arfa, 25, revealed on Monday he would find it hard to turn down a move to Paris Saint-Germain and the France international has now urged Newcastle owner Mike Ashley to continue investing in the club.
France right-back Mathieu Debuchy has arrived in January but Ben Arfa wants to see further arrivals otherwise the talented midfielder may be forced to chase trophies elsewhere.
"At the end of the season there'll be talks with the president and the coach, if there's ambition then why not stay?” Ben Arfa said in an interview with BeIn Sport.
“If there's no ambition then I'd prefer to leave and compete for trophies. But if there's ambition at Newcastle and they sign players, then why not stay?
"For now what Newcastle are doing is ambitious (in the transfer market). They should have done it earlier and we've spoken about that."
