London clubs eye Draxler: Chelsea have joined the race to sign Germany wunderkind Julian Draxler, after the Schalke midfielder again impressed in the Champions League this week. The Daily Star reports that Jose Mourinho is keen on landing the 20-year-old, who was being tracked by Arsenal and Manchester City over the summer.

Paper Round's view: Draxler has just signed a new deal, 'tying' him to the Bundesliga club until 2018, but since when has a long-term deal been a barrier to a transfer in modern-day football? As such, a hefty bid from either club - or even City - could tempt the German club into parting ways. The player himself admitted in the summer that a move to England would be enticing, according to the report, and a summer move could well materialise if either side stumps up £25m.

Juventus target Lukaku: Everton striker Romelu Lukaku has appeared on the radar of Juventus, who want to take the on-loan Chelsea ace to Turin at the end of the season, reports the Daily Mirror. The Belgium international was farmed out to another club for a second successive season on transfer deadline day, leading the Old Lady to believe that "he has been left bitterly disappointed at not being part of the Londoners' squad this season", the report claims.

Paper Round's view: Lukaku is making plenty of headlines at the moment, off the back of some excellent performances, and it's difficult to imagine he would settle for a bench role at Chelsea next season over playing for a club like Juventus. Also, as the paper points out, his agent is a certain Mino Raiola, a man never shy of shifting on his players for a buck or two. Despite Lukaku saying he is willing to make a fist of things when he gets back to Stamford Bridge in the summer, if ever there is a man to make a move happen, it's Raiola.

Gunners prepare new Wenger deal: Arsenal are preparing formal discussion with Arsene Wenger over a new three-year contract worth £8 million per season, reports the Daily Mail. The new deal would represent a £500,000-a-year increase on the Frenchman's current agreement and would take him beyond 20 years at the club. "It is understood money to pay for the proposed new deal has already been earmarked from the club's budget," the report states.

Paper Round's view: Those dark, panic-ridden pre-transfer deadline days seem a long time ago now as the last-gasp signing of Mesut Ozil continues to galvanise the Gunners. Wenger said in the summer he would not sign anything until the end of the season - the assumption being that he would only do so if things went well this campaign - but already the outlook is much brighter in north London and if this team can maintain their early form, even interest from Paris Saint-Germain should not dissuade Wenger from penning a new deal.
