Remy, 27, was not named in QPR’s squad for their home game against Sunderland on Saturday afternoon and it then became apparent the France international was heading to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea were in the market for a new striker after loaning Torres to AC Milan for two seasons and being left with only Diego Costa and Didier Drogba as their senior options at centre-forward.

Now Remy is poised to complete a move across London, providing his personal terms are agreed and he passes a medical at Chelsea.

A move to Liverpool earlier in the summer fell through after he was reported to have failed a medical.

Remy signed for QPR in January 2013 in an £8m move from Marseille and spent last season on loan at Newcastle, scoring 14 goals in 26 games.
