With Rampage Out, UFC Turns to Former Hockey Player Steve Bosse

Following the recent court injunction filed by Bellator MMA to keep Quinton “Rampage” Jackson out of the UFC 186 co-main event in Montreal, the Ultimate Fighting Championship on Saturday announced a new opponent for Fabio Maldonado.

With original opponent Rampage now unavailable, Maldonado will square off with Octagon debutant Steve Bosse, according to UFC officials.

The two will meet at Montreal’s Bell Centre on April 25.

A former hockey player, Bosse turned to professional mixed martial arts in 2007, and has won 10 of 11 fights thus far. He rides an eight-fight winning streak into the fight with Maldonado.

The middleweight fight between Michael Bisping and CB Dollaway moves into the co-main event slot, while flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson puts belt on line against Kyoji Horiguchi in the main event.

UFC officials said Jackson and his representatives plan to appeal the court’s order, but with the event drawing nearer, the UFC has had to take action to ensure a suitable replacement was found to face Maldonado.
