Derek Adams back the referee's decision not to dismiss Lee Mair

Ross County manager Derek Adams thought the referee got it right when he did not send off St Mirren's Lee Mair when he brought down Iain Vigurs on the edge of the area during the goalless draw in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League fixture at the Global Energy Stadium.

Adams and St Mirren boss Danny Lennon were both happy enough with a point apiece and the former did not agree with the home crowd who thought Mair should have been given his marching orders by referee Steven McLean.

Adams said: "I don't think Vigurs had total control of the ball and I think that's why Steven McLean didn't send him off. That's the way I saw it."

Adams believe his side had the better of the opening stages but admitted a draw was a fair result.

He said: "It was a game of two halves probably. We had the better of the first half and St Mirren had the better of the second half.

"We were unfortunate not to go ahead with Sam Morrow's header which came off the crossbar. But St Mirren were unlucky not to score as well in the second half, they put us under a bit of pressure.

"We did really well in the first half but we didn't finish them off when we had the dominance. But credit to St Mirren they did well in the second half."

Lennon claimed his side had done well against a team difficult to beat at home.

He said: "This is a very difficult venue to come to and they are a very hard-working side. But I thought we matched that and showed a bit of quality in the second half.

"All that was missing for us was a goal, but our endeavour and commitment couldn't be faulted."
