Renan Barao Returns, Faces Mitch Gagnon at UFC Fight Night 58 in Brazil

Former UFC bantamweight champion Renan Barao will return to the Octagon with a fight against Mitch Gagnon on Dec. 20, officials announced on Wednesday evening.

The 135-pound affair adds to the growing UFC Fight Night 58 card, which takes place at the Jose Correa Arena in Barueri, Sao Paulo, Brazil.

For Barao (32-2, 1 NC), the newly announced fight is his first since having to pull out of the UFC 177 main event against T.J. Dillashaw in August. Just a day before the bout was to take place, Barao fainted and hit his head during his weight cut. He was replaced by Joe Soto, who ultimately lost to Dillashaw in the pay-per-view's featured bout.

Gagnon (12-2) is on a four-fight win streak and is 4-1 in the UFC. In his most recent bout, Gagnon earned a first-round finish of Roman Salazar by rear-naked choke at UFC Fight Night Halifax.

The upcoming fight card in Sao Paulo is scheduled to be headlined by a middleweight title fight between Lyoto Machida and C.B. Dollaway.
