Coventry City caretaker manager Richard Shaw stresses he is fully focused on improving results

Richard Shaw refused to be drawn on his chances of becoming Coventry's permanent manager after the Sky Blues lost 2-0 at Tranmere.

Shaw, who along with Lee Carsley has been in temporary charge of the first team since Andy Thorn's sacking in August, has lost his three league games in the job and City now sit in the League One relegation zone.

Late strikes from Jake Cassidy and Andy Robinson sent Tranmere top of the table.

With a decision on Coventry's managerial situation set to be made within the week, Shaw admits he needs to get results.

``I am not concerned at all about the job,`` he said. ``My only concern is the fact that we got beat by Tranmere after having the better chances.

``We can't keep coming off after every game and saying the same things, but I am so disappointed with the last 10 minutes because we had played very well up to then. We had more chances than Tranmere throughout the game, we just didn't take them.

``The players need to be strong for each other and start battling away and getting the results. We have been beaten by a team we more than matched.''

Rovers boss Ronnie Moore said: ``I think it was a very tight game and it looked nailed on for a goalless draw. You could see that Coventry are a good side and they have quality but we persevered.

``It is a great start to the season for us but firstly I want to get 50 points and see where we are.

``When you look at our budget, to be at the top of the league is unreal so the players have been absolutely fantastic and I can't praise them enough.''
