Swansea manager Brendan Rodgers admits in terms of resources his side should not be on the same field as Manchester City, but says they will have no fear when they host the Barclays Premier League leaders on Sunday.

While the clubs may play in the same division, there is a major gulf in the finances available to Rodgers and his counterpart Roberto Mancini. Swansea brought in record signing Danny Graham last summer for a fee of £3.5million while City were able to complete the capture of Atletico Madrid striker Sergio Aguero for a fee of £38million.

But Rodgers said: "We go into the game with no fear, we want to bring our 'A' game and if we do that and they have an off day hopefully it will go the same way as some of the other games here against the big teams."

He added: "They have a wonderful array of talent and they have one of the leading squads in Europe and for them that brings that pressure.

"In terms of resources we should not be on the same pitch as them, but that's the beauty of football.

"You get a group of players together and give them the confidence and belief to maximise how they can play and you never know what can happen.

"We have done well against the big sides here. We would have beat Chelsea and arguably should have beaten Tottenham. Against United we were the dominant side in the second half and against Arsenal we won.

"But we respect it will be a difficult task. They will have changes from the European defeat to Sporting Lisbon the other night and they need to win as they want to win the league."
