Is Ronda Rousey the New Chuck Liddell?

Why did Alexis Davis get the next shot at UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey?

Because Ronda Rousey wants to fight. It’s as simple as that.

At least, it is in the world of UFC president Dana White.

“Because Ronda called me and said, ‘I wanna fight,'” White said following Wednesday night’s The Ultimate Fighter Nations press conference, answering the questions of why Davis. “Ronda is my new Chuck Liddell. She will fight anybody, anywhere, anytime. She wants to stay busy. She wants to keep fighting.”

Not that White would tell his champion no, but it’s not like he has much of a choice.

“You tell her she can't fight, she'll say ‘(Expletive) you! I wanna fight.' She wants to fight. She'll fight back-to-back. She'll fight on 24 hours notice. She's the new Chuck Liddell.”

Cat Zingano was supposed to be next up for Rousey, but Zingano is still out of commission, dealing with the fallout from multiple knee injuries and the death of her husband.

Gina Carano has been another highly talked about option, but she’s out promoting her latest movie. White says Carano wants to fight, but they are still in the midst of ongoing negotiations with the former Strikeforce champion.

In the meantime, Rousey is making movies, but wants to fight this summer, plain and simple.

“She's out doing so many movies right now, she doesn't have a second to herself, (but) she wants to fight. She wants to fight this summer. She's probably gonna want to fight again right after that too,” said White.

“That's how Chuck Liddell was, and that's the way a lot of these guys are, you can't stop them. At the end of the day, a grown man or woman is gonna do what they want.”

And Rousey wants to fight.

Where will that get her? Well, if she is the next Chuck Liddell, it’ll eventually get her into the UFC Hall of Fame… although that’s probably already a lock.
