Rory MacDonald to Face Winner of Johny Hendricks and Robbie Lawler in Canada

Rory MacDonald is next in line for a shot at the UFC 170-pound title and the Canadian fighter will get the opportunity in front of his fellow countryman.

UFC President Dana White told the Canadian Press on Wednesday there is no denying MacDonald (18-2) will get the next shot, confirming that the yet-to-be determined venue will be on Canadian soil

“[The fight will] absolutely, positively, without a doubt, be in Canada,” White told the outlet. “He’s next in line and that fight will be in Canada.”

MacDonald fought just last weekend, scoring a technical knockout of the highly touted Tarec Saffiedine at UFC Fight Night Halifax on Saturday. Following the contest, the victorious welterweight said he doesn't see anyone in a greater position than him to earn the status of No. 1 contender.

While a venue is yet to be determined, White said in June that a UFC card in Montreal is likely to take place in March 2015.

MacDonald is yet to know who he'll face in the upcoming title affair, as champion Johny Hendricks and Robbie Lawler are set to rematch at UFC 181 on Dec. 6. The winner of two will meet MacDonald thereafter.
