The former Bradford and Wigan forward underwent minor knee surgery a week ago and, after sitting out last Sunday's Challenge Cup win at Batley, had hoped to be back for Saturday's Super League clash with Catalan Dragons in Perpignan, but the 33-year-old is now back in hospital after picking up an infection.
Huddersfield coach Paul Anderson said: "Stu has needed the knee clear-out for a few weeks now. He had the surgery last week, which went well until he picked up the infection."
He added: "He's now back in hospital trying to get that sorted and, until that's done, we won't know how long he'll be out."
