Wigan coach Shaun Wane insists there will be no holding back in Saturday's Ben Westwood testimonial match at Warrington, his side's last hit-out before the start of Super League.

Shaun Wane 'wants a performance' from his Wigan team at Warrington

The Warriors kick off their league campaign against Salford next Friday and then meet Warrington in round two a week later, but Wane is prepared to accept the risk of injury.

"It's going to be a real good hit-out," Wane said. "I'll be turning out my best team apart from Sam (Tomkins). I want a performance, I want to go to Salford next week knowing what we're doing."

He added: "I want us to be intense for 80 minutes and the only way to do that is to have a dig at Warrington. There is a risk of injury but I'll take it on the chin."

Wane is without skipper Sean O'Loughlin, Chris Tuson and Harrison Hansen through injury while Tomkins is rested but the squad includes Lee Mossop, who missed last week's friendly at Salford through illness, and fellow prop Epalahame Lauaki, who has recovered from injury.

Warrington are close to full strength, with only centre Chris Bridge and back-rower Trent Waterhouse missing.

Westwood, who is celebrating a decade of service to Warrington, said: "I'm really looking forward to a tough game against Wigan.

"We should be clear this is not a pre-season friendly. It's one week before the start of the season and both teams are going to go full on to win this game."
