Alastair Kellock is missing for Glasgow

Warriors exited the competition with a 9-7 home defeat by Cardiff which saw them lose captain and Scotland lock Alastair Kellock with an arm injury.

However, Tim Swinson comes back into the second row after recovering from the injury he suffered during Scotland's win over Japan in November.

Ahead of Friday night's clash, Townsend said: "We have to put the disappointment of Europe behind us and now concentrate on the league.

"There is plenty we can learn from our last two performances in the Heineken Cup and that is what we've been working on this week.

"We're sitting third in the RaboDirect Pro12 so we've put ourselves in a good position with our early season form.

"Treviso are a tough side to play against and will provide us with a very physical contest. I expect our players to meet this challenge head on and take the game to our opponents."

Half-backs Duncan Weir and Chris Cusiter return to the starting line-up after sparking a late fightback against Cardiff, with Niko Matawalu moving to the wing and Sean Maitland switching to full-back as Stuart Hogg drops out.

Tom Ryder replaces Kellock, while prop Gordon Reid is recalled and Josh Strauss comes into the back row.

Lock Jonny Gray misses out with an ankle injury which Glasgow this week reported would require up to eight weeks of rehabilitation.
