Defender Jordan McMillan is an injury doubt for the hosts, but Stuart Bannigan and Sean Welsh are fit.
Partick Thistle manager Alan Archibald said:"We've kept most of our squad from last season, which was vital.
"The new signings add into that and hopefully they can blend in very, very quickly and we can get a good start.
"First and foremost, we're trying to stay up, that's our aim. If we get anything better than that, we'll take it.
"It's a new challenge for myself and all the squad."
Dundee United hope that Stuart Armstrong and Keith Watson will recover from knocks.
Summer signings Calum Butcher, Nadir Ciftci, Aidan Connolly, Chris Erskine, David Goodwillie, Brian Graham, Kudus Oyenuga, Paul Paton and Andrew Robertson are set to make the matchday squad.
Dundee United manager Jackie McNamara said: "First and foremost for me, I want to progress from last season.
"Top six is a minimum for us. I want to take the club forward and try to be successful here.
"The lads go into this game full of confidence, not just because of the results but also the way we played in spells in the last couple of games.
"Partick Thistle have a lot of good young players who are hungry and have a lot of ability.
"It should be a good game, with both teams trying to play football. Hopefully, we will be victorious."
