A fee of around €12m (£10.3m) has been agreed in principal between the two clubs as the Old Lady look to reduce the number of attacking options in their squad.

Tuttosport claim that the Italian international has been offered a five-year deal worth €2.7m (£2.3m) a season at the Stadio San Paolo.

The striker, who will be 29 next week, was signed by the Bianconeri in January 2011 after making a name for himself at Cagliari.

Matri, also of interest to Everton, Liverpool, Milan and Lazio, has scored 29 goals in 83 games for the Turin giants.

Sampdoria goalkeeper Sergio Romero could be on the verge of a move to French side Monaco, reports suggest.

Sampdoria News 24 have claimed that the shot-stopper is being closely targeted by Claudio Ranieri’s men, with a possible transfer imminent.

It is believed that the Ligue 1 side will hold talks with the Bluerchiati over the coming days, however a fee has yet to be confirmed.

Verona have become the third Serie A club this summer to show an interest in Juventus player Reto Ziegler.

The left-back is available for transfer after never breaking into the plans of boss Antonio Conte since they both arrived at the club in 2011.

Ziegler, signed on a Bosman from Sampdoria, has spent the last two seasons on loan at Fenerbahce and Lokomotiv Moscow.

The 27-year-old is already on the transfer radar of city rivals Torino and promoted Sassuolo.

Sky Sport Italia have claimed that fellow Serie A new boys Verona have made contact with the Turin giants to enquire about the player’s asking price.

Ziegler, who earns €1.5m (£1.3m) a season after tax, is a Switzerland international.

Fiorentina will ask Palermo for the loan of goalkeeper Stefano Sorrentino, reports the Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Serie B club have admitted that they will listen to offers for Sorrentino, so long as they arrive within the next week.

The shot-stopper only joined the Stadio Barbera outfit in January from Chievo Verona, but Palermo have a surplus of goalkeepers.

The Sicilian club also have Italian international Emiliano Viviano in their ranks after he spent last season on loan at Fiorentina. The Viola opted against signing him outright.

Meanwhile, Tuttosport are suggesting that the Tuscan giants have shown an interest in Bordeaux custodian Cedric Carrasso.

Fiorentina yesterday underlined that their proposed bid for Brazil and QPR ace Julio Cesar was over. It is believed that his wage demands were considered as excessive.

Serie A new boys Livorno are being linked with a possible move for free agent Tommaso Rocchi.

The 35-year-old is available on a Bosman transfer after his six-month contract at Inter expired in late June.

The veteran striker has been approached by a number of Serie B and foreign sides, but he’s underlined his desire to continue his career in the top flight.

Livorno could make a move for the former Empoli man who spent almost a decade at Lazio before his January switch to San Siro.

Chelsea wing-back Wallace is in Italy undergoing a medical with Inter and his agent confirmed he’s “truly very happy.”

The 19-year-old Brazilian will join Inter on loan for one season and flew in to Italy for the final details.

“He is undergoing his medical right now,” agent Frederico Moraes told TMW.

“Wallace is truly very happy that things all went for the best and now he just wants to wear the Inter jersey as soon as possible.”
