The Argentine has joined the Diavolo on loan after Daniele Bonera was ruled out of action for the next three months.

“This is not the moment to make any promises,” he told the Gazzetta dello Sport. “I’ll look to do my talking with facts.

“I know that there is a massive wall to scale in front of me, but I have no fear.”

Silvestre was told to find a new club this summer after being omitted from Inter’s pre-season training squad just a year after his arrival from Palermo.

However, he rejected a number of possible moves before his Diavolo switch.

“I had nothing against Parma or Genoa,” he added. “I thank the two clubs for their interest, but I was hoping for a high level solution.

“Fortunately Milan didn’t forget about me. I could not have hoped for any better.”

The 28-year-old centre-back featured in just nine Serie A games for Andrea Stramaccioni’s Inter side in 2012-13.

“Everything went wrong from the start,” he responded when asked about his difficulties with the Nerazzurri.

“An injury affected my pre-season and when I got a game I perhaps pushed too hard to be noticed.

“The coach then changed system and results arrived with the three-man defence. It was an uphill battle for me.

“However, Milan play with a four-man defence, something that I prefer and that reassures me.

“I don’t really want to find excuses though. It was a horrible season for everyone. It went badly and that is it.”
