Scottish Football Association chief executive Stewart Regan will bid to secure some weekend fixtures when he negotiates Scotland's World Cup qualifying schedule.

Regan will meet counterparts from Scotland's opponents - Croatia, Serbia, Belgium, Macedonia and Wales - in Brussels on Wednesday to discuss the qualifying schedule for Brazil 2014.

FIFA's preferred dates are Fridays and Tuesdays but Scotland have not played home games at Hampden Park on Friday nights because of opposition from Strathclyde Police.

That raises the possibility of Scotland playing all of their home games on weekday evenings but Regan aims to persuade some opponents to come to Glasgow for a weekend fixture.

Writing on Twitter, Regan said: "I'd prefer to see a range of dates including weekends for those fans who cannot make it on an evening."

Scotland faced the Czech Republic at home on a Saturday in their Euro 2012 campaign but their three other Hampden encounters fell on a Tuesday.
