Selby, who guaranteed a return to world number one status by reaching the last eight earlier in the week, is one additional victory away from another ranking title as the World Championship approaches.

Though his second-frame break of 68 was the highest of the contest, Selby nonetheless raced into a 3-0 lead and did not look back.

Murphy got off the mark by taking the fourth on the final colours, but Selby hit a 63 break in frame five before moving onto the verge of the win in the sixth.

Though Murphy, who was unable to break higher than 50 throughout, claimed one more frame, Selby finished the job in eight frames.

Maguire took the opener in the second semi with a 52 break but runs of 78 and 80 saw Robertson take a 2-1 lead.

A break of 67 saw the Scot steal the fourth and after winning the fifth, another 67 saw the Glaswegian hold a 4-2 advantage.

The Melbourne ace levelled, aided by a 87 break, at 4-4 but Welsh Open champion Maguire produced an 82-run to restore his lead.

However 2010 world champion Robertson conjured up a 110 break to level at 5-5 and force a decider which he won with a terrific break of 81
