The Danish champion made the last eight at Bydgoszcz in round two of the Speedway World Championship at the weekend, bagging nine points to move 10th in the overall standings.

He was eventually ousted in Poland by Tomasz Gollob, Matej Zagar and Chris Holder in semi-final one but the King's Lynn rider is in no doubt that he is getting better.

He said: “Bydgoszcz was definitely an improvement on last time. I had a good couple of races, but I was a little inconsistent. There were some good things to take out of it, but I’m disappointed to finish last in the semi-final. It’s tough and that’s the way it goes.

“I made a good gate in my last heat race to get through, but it would have mattered more in the semi. There were some good moments and bad moments. We’ve just got to work from the good ones.

“If I can hit the semi-finals at the future Grand Prix rounds, it will be surprising if I don’t get to the final.”
