Eftimova banned for two years

Bulgarian sprinter Inna Eftimova, who tested positive for growth hormone somatotropin, has been suspended for two years for doping.

"The two-year ban came into effect retrospectively from 16 May," Bulgarian Athletics Federation president Dobromir Karamarinov said.

Bulgarian media reported last week that Eftimova (pictured, right) would be absent from the London Olympics this summer.

The 23-year-old sprinter tested positive at the World Championships in Daegu, South Korea, last August.

The suspension of the 100m and 200m specialist is a blow to the hopes of the Bulgarian 4x100m relay team, who had hoped to qualify for the Olympics.
