The Celtic defender, 34, injured his left knee in a freak training ground incident while on international duty with Sweden at the end of February and will miss this summer's 2012 European Championship.
Majstorovic's current contract at Parkhead is up in June but speaking at Celtic's Lennoxtown training ground, where he was promoting the club's Easter draw in support of the youth development programme, he stressed that his focus was first and foremost on getting fit again.
"It is getting a lot better, the medical staff are very happy and I'm happy," he said. "If everything goes well and I progress as I am now, I think I might start to run in eight to 10 weeks.
"My contract runs out in June so there will be a time when we need to talk about it. There will be a point where we see what's going to happen. But the main thing for me now (rehabilitation). I am so focused on my rehab, that is my priority.
"I am not worried. I know my fitness and I know there is so much more that I want achieve. I am still so motivated and hungry so the priority is to have a good rehab now. I will take it step by step now."
