Superbikes - Cadwell BSB: Podium joy at last for Bridewell

Halsall Racing’s Tommy Bridewell has had mixed fortunes over these last few months, but after leaving Bathams Honda and joining the Halsall team things have started to look up for the Wiltshire lad. Now all his hard work paid off as he clinched the second spot on the rostrum in the final MCE British Superbike race of the day at Cadwell Park, which is his best result of the season so far.

Cadwell BSB: Podium joy at last for Bridewell

Bridewell and his team made some big changes to his bike as he wanted to be competitive and able to battle for the podium instead of finishing fourth and fifth all the time. But the changes obviously worked as after a great start from the front row the Devizes swearbox was able to keep up with the Samsung Honda of Alex Lowes and the Tyco Suzuki of Josh Brookes. The Aussie rider did crash out paving the way for Bridewell to take second.

The rider has only been on the Kawasaki since the last round at Oulton and has bonded well with his team, and after weeks of nearly getting a rostrum finish he is just relived to finally get a podium.

“It is a massive achievement for me and the team to finally get the thing on the podium. From doom and gloom to breaking down and watching from the side of the track to sitting on the podium with hundreds of people shouting your name, it has just been an amazing day,” said Bridewell, speaking to bikesportnews.com from the circuit.

“We changed some oil heights and the front forks and rear shocks and they were some good changes. But I want to say a massive thanks to the Italian crew and we have made a  big step forward.”
