Jeremy Flores of France in Rio (ASP)

France’s Flores managed a combined total of 18.30/20 as 4-6 foot waves and light winds made for a better spectacle than the extreme conditions of previous rounds.

Defending champion Matt Wilkinson also progressed, as did Brett Simpson and local hope Jadson Andre.

“The conditions have completely changed since yesterday,” said Flores.

“I’m happy to be doing well in the last couple of contests and I feel confident for the next heats.”
