A search is underway to try and find Brown a new opponent for the event.

Brown and Saffiedine were both looking to this fight as an opportunity to return to title contention following a loss in each man’s most recent fight.

Brown (19-12) had been on a seven-fight winning streak, rocketing towards a title shot, only to have his momentum halted by Robbie Lawler, who recently defeated Johny Hendricks for the UFC welterweight championship.

The outgoing Strikeforce 170-pound champion, Saffiedine (15-4) had also been nearing a bout for the UFC belt. Current top contender Rory MacDonald took Saffiedine out of contention by scoring a TKO stoppage in the third round of their fight.

Brown now awaits word of a new opponent, as he hopes to get back on track.

UFC Fight Night 60 takes place on Feb. 14 at the 1stBank Center in Broomfield, and airs live on FOX Sports 1.
