The 24-year-old German shrugged off the changeable conditions which saw him complete the competition in a tailwind, clocking an aggregate of 245.2 points to beat Slovenia's Jurij Tepes (233) and Poland's Dawid Kubacki (229.4).

"My advantage is that I have a lot of strength. Of course it's better when you have headwind, but I can also jump well under tailwind. I don't really worry about the conditions." said Wank.

The German is the runaway series leader, but he will miss the next event as he keeps one eye on the main season.

"I will not compete in Almaty because I need a break," he said. "It would be nice to win the overall title in the GP, but the most important thing is to be in a good shape in winter."
