Tim Boetsch and Thales Leites Meet in UFC 183 Middleweight Clash

Middleweights Tim Boetsch and Thales Leites will square off at UFC 183 on Jan. 31 in Las Vegas.

UFC officials announced the bout on Wednesday.

Following a strong start to his UFC tenure, Boetsch (18-7) has stumbled a bit over the past couple of years, but is currently on the rebound. After losing the first back-to-back bouts of his career to Costa Philippou and Mark Munoz, Boetsch has sandwiched a loss to Luke Rockhold with victories over CB Dollaway, and most recently, Brad Tavares.

Boetsch is looking to build momentum following the win over Tavares when he returns to the Octagon in January.

It will be no easy task, however, as Leites (24-4) is currently one of the hottest middleweights on the planet. He is currently riding a wave of seven consecutive victories, the four most recent of which have come upon his return to the UFC.

Known primarily as a submission specialist earlier in his career, of late, Leites has shown that he has the hands to deal with a striker like Boetsch. The Brazilian has knocked out his last two opponents, Trevor Smith and Francis Carmont.

The bout will serve as support for UFC 183 headliners Anderson Silva and Nick Diaz, who are both returning from lengthy layoffs and will meet in a five-round non-title fight.
