Trump and Ding set the pace

Trump, Junhui set the pace

Eurosport

The prodigal pair each won three games, with the Chinese player edging ahead at the top of the table with superior frames scored, though Trump’s record stands at three for three while Ding played – and lost – an extra game on the day, to the Bristolian.

Junhui bounced back from the loss to defeat Mark Allen, Barry Hawkins and Neil Robertson while Trump had opened up the day’s schedule with a 3-1 win against Shaun Murphy.

Ending his duties on the penultimate day of the event with a win of his own over Robertson, Trump will now look to overtake Ding into top spot on Thursday when he takes on Allan, Hawkins and Mark Davis.

Lower down the table, it is Allen and Murphy currently inhabiting the final two semi-final spots after 2-1 records from three games.

The top four from seven will compete in semis and a final where a spot in the Premier League Snooker event is on the line.

2010 World Champion Robertson will need a miracle to be in the running, however, after losing all four of his matches on the first day of final group action.
