Twice Iraq took the lead in normal time, through Ali Faez – a penalty – and Farhan Shakor, only for Korea to equalise through Kwon Changhoon – who had just come on as a substitute - and Lee Gwanghun.
Farhan thought he had sealed the last-four spot two minutes from the end of extra-time, but Jung Hyuncheol notched a brilliant strike in the second minute of added-on time after being thrown into the fray moments beforehand.
Nevertheless, Iraq finished the job 5-4 on penalties, Farhan slotting the winning spot-kick.
Ghana took an early lead against Chile in Turkey, 16-year-old Moses Odjer chesting down then volleying home, before the South Americans drew level and then took the lead through quick strikes from Nicolas Castillo – smashed into the roof of the net from a tight angle - and Angelo Henriquez.
Ebenezer Assifuah made it 2-2 in the second half after Clifford Aboagye left three Chile defenders for dead, but in extra time Henriquez completed his brace.
Ghana were far from down and out, however, equalising with a Salifu seven minutes from time before Assifuah hit a dramatic second in injury time to win the tie.
